Milan Nesic
Milan Nesic was born in 1976 in Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia. He now lives and works in Novi Sad, Serbia. In 1997, he entered the Faculty of Fine Arts in Pristina, Department of Paintings. In 2003, he received a Bachelor’s degree in painting and in 2015 he received a Master’s degree in painting at the University of Novi Sad, Academy of Art, Novi Sad, Serbia.
“I express myself in the media of painting, assemblage, drawing, collage. My expression basically represents a combination of different practices of abstract painting, focusing on exploring the boundaries and possibilities in the media of painting. Numerous historical references are just the formal basis for the creation of artwork. Focus is on materials and their mutual relationships. So, by combining various non-artistic materials, or by incorporating them into the painting, the painting often acquires characteristics of 3D objects. Paint is used in high impasto technique or directly from the tube. Interventions are simple and direct, emphasis is on the process itself, as well as on the visual idea and thought.”
Milan has had 23 solo exhibitions, and participated in over 50 group exhibitions in Serbia and abroad, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Novi Sad, Museum of Contemporary Art in Sarajevo, 47th October Salon Belgrade curated by Rene Block and Barbara Heinrich, Lukas Feichtner Gallery in Vienna, Associazione culturale atelier in Rome, Reading Room Gallery in London, Herman Miller Showroom in Los Angeles.
His works are in the collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Novi Sad, Telenor Collection and a number of private collections.
